OH life
The new year had been going pretty well. I have had issues with my shoulders for awhile now and they hadn't bothered my in months. I don't know what happened but they got bad again. I ended up seeing a physical therapist in November but because the first visit cost me an arm and a leg I did not keep doing back. So I did the stretches that he recommended but I wasn't feeling much of a difference. He said my posture was horrible (no surprise my job doesn't help that) and my shoulder blade muscles and that whole area is just a mess. He said it is fixable but will take awhile.
As days went on I started feeling pain in my rotator cuff area on both sides, right was worse obviously. I talked to the physical therapist at our work who's first job is with humans and also does dogs. She told me to start doing strengthening exercises with an exercise band. Since I have started that I have not had too many issues with my shoulders but I can still tell that my arms get tired quickly doing tasks that should be easy. I think it will take awhile to strengthen my muscles but I think it will help. I also stretch my shoulders by laying on a foam roll vertically along my spine and just relaxing. it feels quite nice. I do the stretches once a day and the foam roll twice a day (depending on work schedule).
Work had been going okay. Things started to go a little south when first our receptionist left out of the blue (for personal matters) and then one of my coworkers (head tech) left. We have been short staffed since probably like near the beginning of January. We had a student start interning with us and my boss "hired" her to be an extra hand. She loves being there and helping with whatever but its pressure on us because she's is starting from the bottom with training so our third hand is not really because we have to watch her and train her to help us. We did hire another tech who knows the tech stuff just no the computer stuff which is a lot to learn. So lets just say work has been crazy busy and even when it looks like we aren't busy, like not seeing appointments, I have been busy non stop. I haven't been able to do things I normally do. Driving me nuts. Having to do hundred jobs at once. Still haven't found another receptionist yet. Thought we did but then she had to go to the hospital due to an allergic reaction so she never made it to her working interview., she had to cancel twice. we have bad luck all the time.
I have been thinking for a little while now of finding somewhere else to work. The atmosphere has just changed at work. We are too overwhelmed half the time So I have been looking elsewhere. Closer to home. So far only gave my application to one place and who knows if they will even call me. I'm not rushing to get out but I am actively looking. Most places hiring are too far and they all want licensed experienced techs. I'm sad that things seem to have changed at work because I do like working there its just not fitting me anymore and I do need to learn more as I am becoming a newly licensed tech.
The boyfriend and I are good. His roommates house is being delivered (modular) tomorrow but won't be able to move into it for couple months. I cant wait. so sick of the people living above us. I can't sleep in anymore because of the kids stomping the dog barking non stop at like 6am every damn day. DRIVNG ME NUTS.
School is going well. Moving right a long. Getting closer to my last internship. Hopefully things start to look up for work stuff. I hate coming home and going to work stressed. I feel like things can't get done well and at 100% when we are staffed like we are at work.
Fun things ive done is I went out of my comfort zone and made babkas! A peanut butter one and cinnamon sugar one with maple glaze (that was a favorite in the household). Also made funfetti scones last week. Trying to get more out of my comfort zone. can't wait until I have a real stove.
follow me on Instagram if you want to see all my bakes and meals I make. (only the pretty ones haha) madxhatte42.
Have a good week!
