Week 1
Last week was the first week the coronavirus pandemic situation really started to hit the United States, physically, mentally, economically you name it. It is effecting everyone in different ways whether health or financial its a huge impact. My job switched to curbside service not letting anyone in the building except employees. It has been a challenge to get used to but most clients are very thankful for it. we have a lot of elderly clients too.
The world is in a panic and everyone is coming together as much as they can during this time. Schools have stepped up immensely trying to feed the kids who rely on that food because its hard to get it at home. Local small restaurants are suffering incredibly hard and some have had to close but the ones who haven't are doing curbside or delivery or supplying people with things they may not even be able to find in grocery stores right now. Stores are changing hours and hiring more people to help stock and clean which is nice to give jobs during this time. I am so sorry for the people who are jobless because businesses have had to close.
Landlords letting tenants slide on rent. Maine announced letting registration and inspection on trailers and motor vehicles slide indefinitely during this time because people may not be able to afford it.
I am lucky so far my business has not closed. my paycheck may end up getting cut in half which is going to hurt me a lot but at least for now i have a job. Unemployment in maine has changed their protocols to help more people. I mean i hope i dont have to go down that road. Its nice to still have some pay and health insurance. My heart breaks for the thousands of people who are suffering through this. I can count myself as lucky that i have people that could support me if it really came down to it.
I am also glad both my parents can do their job at home. As i worry about their health with this damn thing. I am definitely not worried about my own health but i don't want to infect people that it could be detrimental too.
Social Distancing is going strong here in Maine i think. It helps that we aren't a very cramped state like New York which is booming with cases. I know they aren't testing everyone so there are probably more cases then stated but Maine has 107 right now mostly in the county that i live in which shows that it is community transmission now. It can last on surfaces for 72 hours and on cardboard for like 24 hours. Its crazy how aware you are now when going to the grocery store and trying not to touch things.
Work called yesterday to change us into teams. We had a client in our lobby on May 10th who just tested positive for it. I am on team A and i will work tuesday through friday with three doctors and 3 receptionist. Then team B will work the following week and we will be closed saturday through monday so that the team of that week can clean before the next one comes in. last week was beyong crazy at work and the phones were ringing beyond our means to handle them. i didnt even have time to pee or eat on friday because of it and i was supposed to be working with a doctor but had to go up front to help as their was only one csr up there because the others were home coughing.
This may stay this way or it may change. It probably will because that is tough on schedules.
I was focused on taking the VTNE this summer but honestly its probably not gonna happen because A. i wont be able to afford it and B. the world will be in a spiral economically and everyone who wasnt able to take it now will probably be rescheduled and there will be no room. I continue to study and keep up on stuff so everything will stay fresh. I don't want to lose it all
On to Week 2...may the odds be ever in your favor
